Celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas at Baycrest Hospital

Looking back to December 2024, we spent a wonderful morning at Baycrest Hospital celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas with enthusiastic artists. Through printmaking and foam sculpting, we embraced the upcoming holidays and shared fond memories, making it a truly special time.

5 Reasons Why Art-Making is Beneficial for Individuals with Dementia:

  1. Stimulates Memory – Engaging in creative activities can evoke past experiences, helping individuals reconnect with personal memories.
  2. Encourages Self-Expression – Art provides a non-verbal way to communicate emotions, which is especially helpful for those with language difficulties.
  3. Reduces Anxiety & Stress – The calming nature of creative activities can lower agitation and promote relaxation.
  4. Enhances Motor Skills – Activities like painting and sculpting help maintain fine motor coordination and hand-eye coordination.
  5. Fosters Social Connection – Participating in group art sessions creates opportunities for interaction, reducing feelings of isolation.
