In this hands-on class, young artists will explore the magic of working with Cone 6 fired porcelain clay, learning basic handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab building, scoring and slipping, texturing, and carving. They will also create 3D projects and learn how to use molds to craft items like dishes, bowls, masks, and sculptures.
We’ll delve into both historical and contemporary handbuilt pottery and sculpture, exploring the works of artists who excel in this medium. With guided instruction and plenty of room for imagination, children will shape, sculpt, and bring their ideas to life. This class encourages creativity through playful, tactile projects. All materials are provided, so all they need to bring is their enthusiasm! Perfect for budding artists and kids who love to get their hands messy!
