Children explore their creativity, thoughts and feelings in our 10th annual Art & Yoga Summer Camp. Our camp begins with a self directed art activity followed by some yoga, yoga games, and after a refreshing play on the splash pad the rest of the day is spent engaged in art-making.
The 2020 Art & Yoga Summer Camp will be located in the Peter McKendrick Community Gallery on the east side of the Artscape Wychwood Barns. The gallery is a bright and welcoming 566 sq. ft.space featuring 14’ ceilings and lots of natural light and air conditioning. The Gallery is on the north west corner of Benson and Wychwood Avenues. The entrance faces Wychwood Avenue and right beside the beautiful Wychwood Park. The camp runs from 8:30-5pm. All children registered must be 4yrs old on the start date.

Our Kinder Camp skillfully combines literature with art-making as we aim to help prepare your child for success in school by fostering positive self awareness and assurance. Each day at camp your child will arrive with their knapsack packed and prepared for a day of art-making, literature and outdoor play. This camp is led by an ECE qualified teacher. Children must be 3 or 4 yrs old to register for this class and must be able to use the toilet on their own.

Clay Camp!

Ceramics • Handbuilding | Sculpting clay is a fun and creative process and medium that will help your child understand spatial awareness and develop fine motor skills. In this fun summer camp students will create functional and decorative ceramics using pinch, coil, and slab hand building methods. We will experiment with different glazes and coloured slips. In addition to using clay as an art medium, kids will also learn how to use clay as a mold making tool for plaster based projects. This class is appropriate for beginners and for those with a lot experience wanting to further develop techniques and skills

Our art studio supports processed based art-making. Process refers to experience-driven child-directed art-making that is focused on exploration. This method has proven to be relaxing and allows children to express their feelings while developing creativity.
