Our Collaboration With Sick Kids Hospital, 2021

In 2021, we were hired by a marketing company in collaboration with Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children to create art with outpatients living along the 401 corridor, from Caledonia to Prince Edward County. During my visits, I worked with your children to paint watercolors of their dream hospital. As we spent time together, they shared their ideas on how the hospital could be improved for kids who spend extended periods as inpatients. Including the children in this process was not just a token gesture; their lived experiences genuinely guided the project. The resulting artwork was showcased in a virtual gallery supporting the hospital’s expansion, which was featured on CTV News. This project was incredibly meaningful to me, as I also spent significant time in the hospital as a child due to an incurable disease. I think of these kids often and hope that they are healthy, happy, and continuing to make art. Watch CTV’s coverage https://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2305005
